Using the Extended Cox Model to Determine Factors Affecting the Length of Hospitalization in Patients with Drug Poisoning

Background: Poisoning is a medical emergency, and considered as common cause of morbidity mortality worldwide. In this study, the extended Cox model was used to determine factors affecting length hospitalization in those with drug poisoning. Methods: The sample size included 2408 patients opioids poisoning referring Emergency Department Imam Reza Hospital Mashhad, Iran from March 21, 2018 20, 2019. Extended fitted effect five covariates (age, gender, marital status, type poisoning, opioids). survival analysis, time covariate (T). Patients’ recovery also regarded an event. Results: Of patients, 399 (16.6%) were censored 2009 (83.4%) uncensored. risk failure complete males 1.189 times more compared females. for 15-24, 25-44, 45-64, >65 years age groups 0.277, 0.241, 0.289, 0.481 lower, respectively <2 group. For married 0.291 lower divorced patients. poisoned accidentally, 0.490 than intentionally. methadone, morphine, opium, tramadol, 1.195, 1.243, 1.193, 1.147 more, marijuana. By increasing (day) hospital stay, 1.024, 1.028, 1.040 Moreover, 1.197 intentionally by stay. Conclusion: drugs are time-independent covariate, time-dependent covariates.
